Liturgy for a Sunny Day

The Beaker People stagger outside, amazed at the unfamiliar yellow object beaming from the sky. Soggy wildlife awakes in the unaccustomed light and wonders.

The swifts exult across the sky. The wodewosen perform their lumbering "dance of the oaken-folk" as, for the first time in these seven years, the female wodewose suspects it may be the mating season.

Elven folk sing their Summer Carol in far-ancient tongues. Their eyes, born of the first light Anthony Eden saw play, are ancient - but their hearts, in this shimmering air, are young once more.

Creeping through the plantation and down to the brook, we see a young figure, sitting still by a pool. We watch, in reverence, as Narcissus is turned to a flower.

All: That'll be that global warming.

  1. Oh dear, I thought that I was in wonderland for a moment!

Now I realise that the Arch Druid has brought forward Gin O'Clock from 5pm to 5am.

    1. This is the reflex liturgical response in our household, regardless of what new-fangled modernist liturgy AE may suggest!

  4. It's an interesting conception 'Baby Boomers'. After the first world war, there were insufficient eligible males left alive to create a baby boom, to provide the cannon fodder for world war two. So, where did all of the fighting men come from?

As an ancillary, who decided that after a war we needed to replace our population in a hurry to provide sufficient workers to make our economy boom?

Off course the advent of wide-spread contraception has resolved the 'baby boomer' effect with the exception fo the third world or the catholic's.
