The Random Watchmaker

"'It was almost as if nature was developing different human prototypes with different attributes, only one of which, an ancestor of our species, was ultimately successful in evolutionary terms,' he said."

So that would be a not-so-blind watchmaker, who makes a number of watches, because the watchmaker knows that a watch is what is required. Then, after several watches have become available, throws away the ones that tell the wrong time.

  1. I have a digital watch, which keeps good time. However, given that I'm past middle age, I can't figure out how to change the time for summer and winter. I also set it 5 minutes before due to my Army life, where always being somewhere 5 minutes before was a habitual rule.

So, at the moment, it's 5 minutes fast. Come October 23rd it will be one hour and 5 minutes fast.

It's keeps the brain agile working out what time it actually is all of the time :)
