Birthday

Today is Mrs Hnaef's birthday. I'm not sure she'd remembered this when she decided to give me up for Lent, and it seemed to cause her some difficulties when I brought her up her present from me as she sat in bed this morning.

She ignored it while I was in the room, but when we came down for breakfast, I noticed that although she was clearly not intending to break her Lenten resolution, there was a moistness to her eye, though it may have been because I confused the sugar and salt while I was preparing her latte.

And when I got back from getting the paper, there were two cups of tea by the pot.
