Modern theories of Liturgical Procession

It's such a dilemma, isn't it? The way things have changed in sermon approach. I mean, these days you find you need to keep banging the theology in hard to get the congregation on the back foot. You have to count on a bit of uneven bounce to catch them out.

Not like the old days, when you'd try to keep the theological level up quite a long way, keep bringing the congregation forward. I guess in those days it was the uncovered pulpits that did it.

So it's changed the arrangement of our processions. Once we'd keep the acolytes nice and straight. But nowadays we have to sacrifice one of them to use in the sweeper position.
