What's so horrible about that? Just appoint all the committee bores to these two sub-committees, then let them enjoy themselves while everyone else does the real work.
Never thought of it like that. Committee's are a necessary evil they deal with the mundane minutia in committee, allowing the PCC to turn up, have a few drinks and sandwiches and game of darts or even a game of domino's until the committee meetings are finished. Than hear a summary and go to the pub.
In fact this makes PCC membership more attractive, if you can avoid volunteering for any committee, apart from the social one.
