Praying for Parking Spaces

Went over to Kingston Tescos, as you do. Gin supplies getting dangerously low after Xmas.

The car park was really busy. Not a parking space to be seen. But I'd heard of people praying for parking spaces so thought I'd give it a go.

Sure enough - right up the front-  as near as you can get to the walkthrough to the little shops as you can get with a standard space.

If I'd not ridden over on my Pashley cycle it would have been really handy. Still, it seems the concept works.

Still I'm worried now. If my prayers brought those unneeded spaces, is there currently a Pentecostal in Michigan circling a Wal-Mart in their pickup, wondering why there's no spaces? Balance must be maintained.

  1. Perhaps you should speak to the druid, King Arthur Pendragon, who is seeking judicial review on religious grounds, regarding the £15 parking charge introduced by English Heritage for visitors to Stonehenge during the Summer Solstice in June

  2. I corresponded with King Arthur about the reburial of a (probably) pagan skeleton that had spent almost 50 years under the coffee table in our village church. Lovely chap, most helpful, we came up with a prayer for the occasion that covered all bases.
I still miss the skeleton though, she was the most faithful member of the congregation, never missed a service and attended most PCCs.

    1. Although it is unconventional to refer to the altar as a coffee table, the image is quite stimulating.

  3. No, no, no. It won't be a Pentecostal. We all know that the most effective prayer in these circumstances is, "Hail Mary, full of grace, please find for me a parking space." So self-respecting Pentecostal would pray that ;-)
