Those species originating in Asia have probably been imported into the UK through the global trade in used tyres. These tyres can often be transported large distances along motorways, moving the eggs to new habitats and environments.Dr Medlock said that although no non-native mosquitoes had been detected in the UK so far, "a better system to monitor imported used tyres needs planning".It's a nightmare, isn't it? Foreign species of mosquitoes have invaded Britain in spare tyres. We know this because despite checking at sea ports and service stations we have never found any. How sneaky can you get?

I think this can be solved by raising taxes on tyres, or possibly on air.
