Today we mark the anniversary of the birth of Bernard Bosanquet, co-discoverer of the Higgs Boson.
This remarkable fundamental particle, as a result of quantum entanglement, can spin in either direction according to what the observer chooses. This causes terrible problems to its complementary particle, the Higgs Batsman.

Would that be any relation to Ken Higgs, the English fast-medium bowler of the 1960s?

Naturally. A spin bowler would never achieve the ultra-high speeds required for particle physics. You need a medium quick for that.
DeleteNo wonder Reggie, son and heir of the sainted Bernard, was confused. His toupee could never decide which way to spin, either.
