Thanks to the Beaker Youth for their dramatic presentation of "On the Jericho Road" this morning.
I was especially moved by their challenge - "in the story of the Good Samaritan, who do you identify with?"
And it's an important question. In the pilgrimage of life, are you the innocent victim, the one who walks by, to preserve your safety and purity - or the Samaritan, who goes out of the way, and incurs personal cost, to help a stranger?
On the whole, I think I want to be the innkeeper. You get to help out, and don't have to put yourself to any risk.
You make a few quid, as well. There's no doubt about it. The Church needs innkeepers. It's a sacrifice I'm happy to make.
