I really do disagree with Nadine Dorries calling David Cameron and George Osborne "arrogant posh boys".
They were arrogant posh boys 35 years ago. They're grown-up now. That makes them arrogant posh men.
I get annoyed when adult women are referred to as 'girls'so by the same token and in the interests of equality Nadine Dorries shouldn't have called Cameron and Osborne 'boys'which sounds matronizing, belittling and rude. What I want to know is how does she know they were 'arrogant' when they were at Eton? Or was she stereotyping all Eton 'boys' as arrogant by default?
And I wouldn't want to generalize re Eton boys. But the Eton (and Stowe)-educated students I knew had certainly been taught be self-confident. Maybe "self-confident" is "arrogant" when seen from a certain perspective? (I was going to say "chippy" there, but I've no idea whether Nadine is chippy).
Nadine Dorries can be quite arrogant herself.
