I write this as Team GB celebrate their third gold medal of tonight's athletics, and the sixth of the day.
It's easy, when we are all over-excited, to lose a sense of proportion. So perhaps I can bring us all back to a sense of reality. So...
We've nearly three times more golds than Germany. Nearly twice as many as France. Nearly five times as many as Russia.
We are Britain. We are black and white, and every shade in between. And we are great.
We can almost walk on water, Eileen, though I don't think that's an Olympic sport as yet. :-)
